Programs for School Groups
Our programs for teachers and their students can help bring language to life for your class. You’ll build on your classroom experience by spending a weekend at our Villages near Bemidji, Minn., totally immersed in the language and culture or a school day or overnight on a field trip to The Forest, our retreat center near the Twin Cities metro area. At the Language Villages, you’ll be amazed to see your students step away from the self-consciousness that may keep them from full interaction with the language in the classroom. Custom-designed programs can be tailored as pre-departure preparation for a class trip abroad or as an affordable alternative to an abroad experience.
Teacher Seminars: Second Language Acquisition
Educators of all world languages can learn about current methods in world language instruction and assessment. Participants will also discuss how theory informs classroom practice. This two-week residential course offers graduate-level credit and takes place each June in Bemidji, Minnesota. You’ll get hands-on experience at the world-renowned Language Villages’ culturally authentic sites. This is a great opportunity to see language education theory in action!
Master of Education in World Language Instruction
If you’ve been wanting to pursue an M.Ed. but haven’t been sure how to find the time, you’ll love this flexible program designed specifically to meet the needs of active educators. This program features an innovative mix of online learning and on-site classes and observations at Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji, Minnesota. Combining theory with practice, you will discover the magic of immersion education as you “live the Language Village experience” and find new ways to make language come alive for your students. Both the STARTALK and the teacher seminars courses count toward this degree. Degree is awarded through Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
Customized Professional Development Workshops
We customize programs to specifically address the issues you request, such as the global themes of sustainability, the environment, and energy conservation. These programs can be offered anywhere in the U.S. or around the world.
