Skogfjorden Dean Knighted

Tove Dahl at Skogfjorden

Norwegian Language Village dean, Tove Irene Dahl, has been named a Knight of the First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, "Ridder 1. klasse av Den Kongelige Norske Fortjenstorden," by His Majesty King Harald V of Norway for the advancement of Norwegian language and culture in the United States.

Tove has served on staff with the Language Villages for the over 31 years, including 27 years as dean of Skogfjorden. She says it's a true privilege to have the opportunity to introduce young people to Norway and Concordia Language Villages' mission.

Tove is a remarkable educator both at the Language Villages and at the University of Tromsø.  Her leadership in peace studies is highly recognized on both sides of the Atlantic.

"If I can be a part of helping Villages express their dreams and creating opportunities to help them achieve great things now and perhaps even greater things when they become adults," Dahl says, "then the Skogfjorden staff and I can refine our work towards the Concordia Language Villages' mission, in our Norwegian way, to help young people become responsible global citizens."

Both Concordia Language Villages and Concordia College are very proud to claim her as a member of our community.
