Brenda Bertrand

Brenda Emilie BertrandBrenda Emilie Bertrand  is the dean of Lac du Bois - Bemidji (first half), the French Language Village. Emilie worked for several French Language Villages and deans in 1987-1989. She earned her Ph.D. in French (19th century French literature and African Francophone literature) at the University of Iowa, where she also her an M.A. and certification in secondary education. Her B.A. in French is from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa. She spent a year in France as a lectrice at the Universite de Picardie in Amiens. 

Emilie has held a variety of faculty positions at Wittenberg University, Butler University, and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She taught in Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, high schools as a student and substitute teacher. Emilie is currently the director of Wittenberg University's Foreign Language Learning Center.
