Learn Some Arabic

Did you know that English words such as "algebra," "cotton" and "sugar" are ultimately derived from Arabic?  Here are some common words and their meanings and pronunciations:

مرحبا  Hello. It is more commonly used to mean welcome.  (Marha-ban)

سلام It means peace. It is used to say hello and goodbye (salam)

سلام you are among family in a welcoming place (Ahlan Wa Sahlan)

مع السلامة  goodbye (Mal-Salama)

صباح الخير  have a bountiful morning;  Good morning. (Sabah El Kheir)

مبروك  congratulations  or may God bless what you got (Mabrouk)
