Citizens of Simtown vote for the elected officials of Hometown's simulated city
Hometown, Europe’s simulated city – "Simtown" – gives students the chance to take on a new role – perhaps as the mayor, judge, treasurer or sheriff. This ongoing simulation introduces new English challenges and tasks on a daily basis. Hometown experiences political campaigns, candidates give election speeches and the citizens of Simtown cast their votes. Salaries are paid in "Homey," the currency of Simtown, and students learn that in order to keep things running smoothly, there is also, of course, the tax collector!  Everyone plays a part in Simtown and has fun learning global citizenship skills while using their English.

Activities
You can celebrate Halloween, or compete at the Hometown Olympics. Simtown's Park and Recreation Board plans a State Fair with games and contest. Every day is full of activities and creative ways to practice English while having fun and learning cultural norms in the English-speaking world.

About Ftan, Switzerland
Hometown is surrounded by magnificent mountains perfect for hiking. Each morning, students wake to views of the rooftops and steeple of Ftan. This village is located in the easternmost region of Switzerland known as Graubünden. Most local people speak Romansch, although Swiss German is also spoken in the area. The summers are beautiful with warm days and cool nights. The mountains are considered part of the Engadine Dolomites and people who live in this area are called "Engadiners."

Experienced Staff
All teachers and counselors are English speakers trained in the language immersion methodologies of Concordia Language Villages. Staff have professional degrees and experience teaching English to youth from countries around the world. They are eager to share their interests and expertise, and the low (usually 1:5) staff-to-student ratio ensures individualized attention. Concordia Language Villages has been teaching young people languages in a summer camp setting since 1961. Click here for employment information.
