New at Concordia Language Villages Summer 2008
SOIVA Camp at Salolampi
Finnish focused music instruction

Now, Concordia Language Villages will offer a focused music education program for young people this summer: Soiva Camp at Salolampi, a music camp hosted in northern Minnesota.

Soiva Camp at Salolampi is a partnership between Concordia Language Villages, the Association of Finnish Music Schools, the Salolampi Foundation, Concordia College, Bemidji State University and the Finlandia Foundation. This pilot program is limited to 25 students in advanced study of flute, piano, improvisation or composition and will be held June 15-21. Participants must have a minimum of two years private instruction in piano or flute. 

Instruction will be by three teachers from Finland and two from the United States.  Participants will live at Salolampi and receive their instruction at the music department of Bemidji State University.

Dates:    June 15 - 21, 2008
Participants:   9-16 years old, minimum two years private instruction in piano or flute
Course of Study:   intermediate study of flute, piano, and improvisation and composition
Number of students:   25
Student-Teacher ratio:  1 to 5
