Norwegian Genealogy Seminar
This program is conducted in English.
Spend four days immersed in the tools and practices used to trace your own Norwegian history at Skogfjorden, the Norwegian Language Village near Bemidji, Minn.
With the guidance of expert instructors, you'll explore the vast amount of genealogical information in the Norwegian bygdebøker and the resources of the bygdelags in America. Special emphasis on Internet sites include the voluminous digitalarkivet (digital archive) of Norway and the historical census records of both countries.
Instructors also lead lectures and workshops on related collateral topics, Norwegian genealogical vocabulary study, and how to write your family story. Bring your personal Norwegian genealogy records, your research questions and your personal laptop computer. Skogfjorden is equipped with wireless internet access.
See a typical weekend.
Lodging
Lodging and meals are included in your tuition price as part of your stay at beautiful Skogfjorden. Meals are served in the upper level of the dining hall and offer Norwegian cuisine and atmosphere. Time for relaxing nature walks and good conversation over bottomless pots of coffee make this retreat a wonderful opportunity to rediscover your roots.
