Family Weeks (6 days/5 nights)

Schedule

Finnish  family weeks allow grandparents, parents, children, aunts, uncles, and cousins the opportunity to explore Finnish language and the culture together and to share experiences and build memories that will last a lifetime.  Sessions are held during the summer. You'll enjoy delicious food and the same rich setting that is offered during the summer sessions for young people.

Activities
Families are invited to participate in Salolampi activities that reflect life in Finland and provide opportunities to learn and use the Finnish language.  Some of the group activities (language groups, stories, games, crafts, meals, hikes and more) are offered just for children, some just for adults, and some for everyone.  Play a Finnish board game or enjoy the sunshine outside playing kyykkä (skittles) or pesäpallo (Finnish-style baseball). Try kankaankudonta (loom weaving)  or try your hand at tuohenpunonta (birchbark crafts). And at the end of the day, take a refreshing swim after a nice, hot sauna!

Housing
Housing is at Salolampi by family groups in cabins with bathrooms.  Two or three families will be housed in each cabin.  There is also limited single-family housing in the main building, with separate bathrooms.  A few RV hookups provide the possibility of bringing your own housing, by advance arrangement.  With RV's, you must bring your own bedding and towels.

Location
Finnish family weeks are located at Salolampi near Bemidji, Minnesota.
