Barndalen, or "children's valley," is modeled on the Swedish förskola. The program offers a unique opportunity for children ages 2½ to 5 to explore the Swedish language and culture through a variety of activities, including singing, dancing, arts and crafts. The program strives to reflect a core Swedish educational value that each child should be allowed to develop as an individual and should be appreciated and nurtured as such.

Swedish language is a natural part of this safe, caring environment. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend with their children, to supply support as an integral part of their children's learning.

Barndalen is designed to prepare learners for the Svenska Skolan program at the American Swedish Institute, as well as for Sjölunden, the Swedish Language Village, a language and cultural immersion summer camp for young people, ages 7 to 18.

Location:
Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd
4801 France Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN (free parking available)

This language program is customized to reflect the culture and language of Sweden. The progression of curriculum ensures that each class builds on the previous one, continually challenging the learner.
