Educators
Let us be your resource for teaching language and culture
Concordia Language Villages offers a variety of professional development programs year-round at our Turtle River Lake site near Bemidji, Minnesota, and at The Forest, our International Retreat Center near Minneapolis/St. Paul. We also travel to schools across North America to provide professional development customized to the interests of the teachers and students at the school. And we offer consulting services related to best practices in world language curriculum design, instruction, and assessment.
We also provide specialized programming for teachers and school groups at both the Turtle River Lake site and at The Forest. We are happy to discuss program ideas to meet the needs of your school community. For example, the Waldsee BioHaus Environmental Living Center at the Turtle River Lake site offers the opportunity for hands-on learning about our ecological footprint and alternative energy options. The content of this workshop is adaptable to all ages and languages. Both the Turtle River Lake site and The Forest can accommodate small and large groups in a variety of languages.
During the summer we offer graduate-level courses in ten-day formats related to best practices in teaching and learning world languages. For over twenty summers, world language teachers from across the United States and around the world have traveled to Concordia Language Villages to participate in Teacher Seminars, a four-credit graduate level course in second language and immersion methodologies. This course provides an introduction to the Master of Education in World Language Instruction, a hybrid program combining online instruction during the academic year from Concordia College with summer coursework at Concordia Language Villages.
You can count on:• Well-organized interactive sessions packed with useful teacher strategies and information
• Talented, knowledgeable, passionate instructors with years of language education experience and excellent credentials
• Safe, comfortable accommodations
• Delicious food
• Opportunities to share ideas with educators from other areas
