 Welcome to Concordia Language Villages for adults! Our adult week sessions, for ages 18
and older, provide a chance to sharpen language skills, or explore an entirely new language
and culture. A talented and motivated staff provides expert instruction in small and large
group settings catered specifically to participants' language abilities.
Enthusiastic instructors offer language classes, presentations on culture and history,
musical experiences, and workshops on ethnic arts and crafts. Beginning learners will enjoy our
friendly, activities-based approach to helping you communicate in the target language. Advanced
learners benefit from the chance to practice their language with fellow learners and our instructors,
and enjoy the opportunity to delve into topics of personal interest within the context of the program.
Professionals find our programs to be a great way to earn up to 50 clock hours of language learning
related to their careers. A wide variety of activities means that every learner has a chance to
develop new skills in the target language!
 Participants stay on-site at our year-round Villages on Turtle River Lake. The
architecturally-authentic Villages are comfortable, modern and spacious.
Meals reflect the cuisine of the countries represented by the Language
Village you are visiting. Lunch and dinner are served family style with breakfast served cafeteria style or buffet. The breads, pastries and desserts are home-baked, adding an ethnic flair not easily found elsewhere.
Transportation to Bemidji, Minn. is the
responsibility of the participants. Villages staff will pick up
villagers from the Bemidji Regional Airport, Jefferson
Lines Bus Depot or local motels in Bemidji. If you are driving,
directions to your Village will be provided in your registration
welcome packet.
Check-in time is 5 p.m. the first day of each program and checkout
is noon on the last day.
 Programs listed as "immersion" utilize the same
techniques to teach language and culture as the summer youth programs:
complete language immersion. That means from the moment you arrive, to
the moment you leave, your hosts will speak in the target
language.
Non-immersion programs stress language learning and cultural
activities, but use more English language to explain concepts and give
lessons.
