Elderhostel Programs are held at the Language Villages in collaboration with Elderhostel, Inc. Participants of all levels of language ability, ages 55 and older, or attending with an age-eligible companion, enjoy a stimulating, supportive and relaxing atmosphere. Days are filled with language classes, cultural lectures and activities, music and cuisine.

Program Leader (Swedish)
Elise “Viktoria” Peters has been with Concordia Language Villages since 1988. She was a Villager, summer staff person and now our adult leader for the Swedish Adult Weekend and Swedish Elderhostel programs. Elise graduated from Gustavus Adolophus College with a degree in Scandinavian Studies and History. She is currently the Executive Director of the Swedish Council of America in Minneapolis, Minn. In her free time, Elise enjoys folk dancing, playing the nyckelharpa and is active in the Scandinavian community in the Twin Cities.
Program Leader (Norwegian)
Kari Berit had been leading the Norwegian Elderhostel and Adult Weekend programs since 1989 with Concordia Language Villages. She and her husband, Eric Ramlo, make their home in Red Wing, Minnesota --- Kari’s hometown. Kari attended St Olaf College, sang with the St. Olaf Choir for three years, toured the Orient with the choir in 1986, and graduated with majors in Norwegian and Psychology. Eric also graduated from St. Olaf with a degree in Philosophy. Both Kari and Eric have been to Norway on several occasions; Kari studies a semester at the University of Oslo, taught at Sons of Norway’s “ Camp Norway” in Sandance, Norway and has led three Elderhostel and adult groups, two for Concordia Language Villages. Kari’s love of teaching the Elderhostel student drove her to return to school and receive a Master’s of Science degree through the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Continuing and Vocational Education in 1995. Both work full time for their business, Kari Berit Presents of which they offer keynotes, consulting and Kari Berit is also an author of mental fitness and caregiving books. As their business tagline reads: “It’s about living fully engaged,” which sums up how they live and work.
