Rosemaling Workshops introduce participants to the intricate patterns and designs of this beautiful Norwegian art
form. Various instructors offer different painting techniques
in traditional and non-traditional styles of
rosemaling including Telemark, Rogaland, Os and Vest Adger. Sessions are offered for beginning, intermediate and advanced participants.

Instructors
Norwegian Rosemaling comes to life during this unique workshop. Gold Medal Rosemaler instructors will teach participants the traits and treats of this old Norwegian painting.
Lois Mueller of Platteville, Wisc. will lead Telemark rosemaling for beginners and intermediate in both oil and acrylic paints. Lois has been rosemaling for 29 years and has published several instructional books. Although a newcomer to the Villages, she has taught rosemaling courses throughout the US and Canada.
Trudy Peach of Howard Lake, Minn. will teach Os and Vest Adger style of Rosemaling with intermediate or advance participants mainly in oils. Trudy has been at the Villages in 2004, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1995 and has been rosemaling for over 30 years.
Combining beginner and intermediate participants, Nancy Schmidt of Waukesha, Wisc. will instruct Rogaland style of rosemaling. She is also a Gold Medal Rosemaler teaching over 26 years and has been with the Villages during 2006, 2002, 1999, 1998 and 1996.
Join us for this Norwegian and Norwegian-American information-filled genealogy seminar. Among
the numerous topics included are a survey of current relevant genealogical resources, with
special emphasis on Internet sites in Norway and the United States, including the voluminous
digitalarkivet and the historical census records of both countries. The vast amount of
genealogical information in the Norwegian bygdebøker and the resources of the
bygdelags in America are also explored and discussed. Lectures and workshops on related
collateral topics, Norwegian genealogical vocabulary study and the writing of your family story
are also presented along with other interesting topics. Bring your personal Norwegian genealogy
records, your research questions and your personal laptop computer. Skogfjorden is equipped with
Wireless Internet access.

John E.
Bye, University archivist and curator of the Institute for regional Studies at North Dakota
State University, Fargo, ND; Evonne B. Anderson, retired member of the staff of Concordia
College Office of Communications, Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota and
Elderhosteler instructor for Norwegian languages; and Verlyn D. Anderson, PhD, retired
from the dual position of Library Director and Professor of Scandinavian studies, Concordia
College, Moorhead, Minnesota.
Overnight Registration includes 3 nights lodging, meals and instruction.
Commuter Registration includes meals and instruction. Spouses not taking the course may attend for
