A program of Concordia College and Concordia Language Villages

The Master of Education in World Language Instruction is an innovative mix of online learning and on-site classes and observations at Concordia Language Villages.  Combining theory with practice, you will “live the Language Villages experience” and find new ways to make language come alive for your students.

As members of a cohort, students will form a learning community providing support to each other throughout the program.  Students will share ideas, ask questions and discuss relevant issues and concerns in second language teaching and learning.

The effective use of technology is woven into the program to address how young people are processing and sharing information today.  Students will not only learn about current technology but will use current technology to complete the online portion of the program during the academic year in keeping with the Language Villages philosophy of learning by doing.

The Master of Education Program is designed for the working teacher, with coursework spanning two summers.  The summer coursework takes place during the month of July at Concordia Language Villages, located near Bemidji, Minnesota.  During the academic year between the two summers, an online course each semester engages the participants in using technology effectively to create multimedia learning experiences for their classrooms.  The final component of the program is an independent research thesis supported by an online seminar facilitated by the faculty of the Master of Education program.  The thesis and online seminar take place during the fall semester following the second summer of coursework.
