Portuguese Language Village

Summer Youth Programs

Exploring Portuguese | Summer Youth Program | Dean | Learn something | Village Employment

International Day 2007In summer 2008, Concordia Language Villages will usher its first group of villagers through customs and the process of selecting a new Portuguese name, marking the official opening of Mar e Floresta, the Portuguese Language Village. Portuguese is the 15th language offered through the Language Villages’ immersion programs.

Located at a lakeside summer camp in northern Minnesota, Mar e Floresta’s two-week programs will offer villagers a residential immersion experience. With a blend of language and cultural experiences, from meals inspired by the sea to the African-influenced sport of capoiera practiced widely in Brazil, participants and multi-national staff live together to create a unique Portuguese-speaking opportunity for beginners or native speakers. Staff and curriculum will represent and incorporate Lusophone culture from around the Portuguese-speaking world.
