(Moorhead, MN—Feb. 26, 2007) Concordia Language Villages was recently awarded $350,000 in funding from the National Security Language Initiative program STARTALK, one of several government initiatives aimed at increasing the number of Americans learning critical need languages such as Arabic and Chinese. The funding will be used for both student scholarships and continuing education for teachers of Arabic and Chinese.

(St. Paul, MN--February 10, 2006) Concordia Language Villages Executive Director, Christine Schulze, and a national panel of Arabic scholars and education leaders announced today that Congress has approved the appropriation of $250,000 for Concordia Language Villages’ new Arabic Language Village in the FY-2006 State Department Appropriation bill. The grant boosts the organizations plans to launch its first-ever immersion education program in Arabic language and culture in July, 2006. The appropriation will be used to underwrite the creation of the curriculum and ensure that the program is culturally supported.

(Bemidji, Minn. – Jan. 13, 2006) Concordia Language Villages’ Bemidji Area Advisory Council (BAAC) is offering a number of scholarships for students in the Bemidji-area to attend a summer session at Concordia Language Villages. Fourth and fifth graders from the Bemidji area are eligible to enter the essay contest.
