(Moorhead, MN—July 2, 2007) Concordia Language Villages will host International Day Friday, July 6 and Friday, Aug. 10 at Waldsee, the German Language Village located on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minn. WALDSEE BIOHAUS
WINS MINNESOTA ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE AWARD

(Moorhead, MN—May 18, 2007) Concordia Language Villages’ Waldsee BioHaus, the first certified Passive House in North America, has won the 2007 Minnesota Environmental Initiative Award for air quality and climate protection. These are the premiere environmental awards in the state and commend the ability to honor both environmental and business priorities. Read full story.

CONCORDIA LANGUAGE VILLAGES RECEIVES FEDERAL LANGUAGE FUNDING THROUGH STARTALK PROJECT

(Moorhead, MN—Feb. 26, 2007) Concordia Language Villages was recently awarded $350,000 in funding from the National Security Language Initiative program STARTALK, one of several government initiatives aimed at increasing the number of Americans learning critical need languages such as Arabic and Chinese. The funding will be used for both student scholarships and continuing education for teachers of Arabic and Chinese.

CONCORDIA LANGUAGE VILLAGES TO ANNOUNCE STATE DEPARTMENT GRANT FOR NEW ARABIC LANGUAGE VILLAGE

(St. Paul, MN--February 10, 2006) Concordia Language Villages Executive Director, Christine Schulze, and a national panel of Arabic scholars and education leaders announced today that Congress has approved the appropriation of $250,000 for Concordia Language Villages’ new Arabic Language Village in the FY-2006 State Department Appropriation bill. The grant boosts the organizations plans to launch its first-ever immersion education program in Arabic language and culture in July, 2006. The appropriation will be used to underwrite the creation of the curriculum and ensure that the program is culturally supported.

ESSAY CONTEST OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO BEMIDJI AREA STUDENTS

(Bemidji, Minn. – Jan. 13, 2006) Concordia Language Villages’ Bemidji Area Advisory Council (BAAC) is offering a number of scholarships for students in the Bemidji-area to attend a summer session at Concordia Language Villages. Fourth and fifth graders from the Bemidji area are eligible to enter the essay contest.
