Discover a Language Abroad: Chinese | French - Cameroon | French - France | German | Japanese | Spanish—Argentina | Spanish—Spain
Beginning in Paris, historical and cultural tours include the major
sites and museums of the city of lights: the Latin Quarter, the Eiffel
Tower, the Louvre, Montmartre and the Palace at Versailles.
The 16-day intensive study portion of the trip is in St. Malo (Bretagne), the famous walled
city on the English Channel where Jacques Cartier prepared his explorations. Surrounded by
medieval ramparts, St. Malo is waiting for many new discoveries to be made along its narrow
winding streets, where centuries of history have left their trace, and where participants have
ample opportunities to explore French culture and language.
Mornings in Bretagne are filled with organized classes taught by native French speakers
and certified American French teachers to expand oral and written communication skills.
Afternoons are set aside for culture and thematic interviews with French people in the
community of St. Malo. The final week is spent with a French family in the region, providing
time to reinforce language skills and expand on the cultural understanding gained during the
first three weeks of the program.
"Living and eating with a group of people with similar
interests was a blast. I am totally ready for college now. Dorm life...squeezing
in studying...pushing myself to do things I've always wondered if I could do or not. I now
know I can because I have!"
