Evening Program & Special Activities
Wizard of
Oz Day
On Saturday morning we were divided in more groups
According to our speed.
We went through a forest and during the hike we met our counsellors who were looking like the characters of the Wizard of Oz. So it wasn´t so hard, but surely interesting and fun.
Two hours later we arrived to Alp Laret which is a dairy with a nearby restaurant where some of us could eat cheese and ham.
Later there was a short play done by the counsellors and they asked what we wanted to do; we had three different chances: going down, staying at the dairy or going up trying to reach the top of the mountain.
Personally I decided to go up but I couldn´t understand which mountain we had to climb up because there were so much mountains .Hiking was very hard and we had to go quite fast .Sometimes we stopped in order to enjoy the wonderful view.
I was forced to go slower because my leg begun to be painful.
Fortunately we crossed a small river with very clean water and ,so we could drink from a river!
When we started I had found my pass and it was easier to go on and after long time we reached small lake in which the water was green. We stopped n order to restore us.
Actually we arrived at the top. WE all were proud and we took a lot of pictures.
We were very tired , overall me, but we had to go down. There two chances: going down through the same way or going through an other one. We chose the second one which was quite difficult because it was very slippery .
“Wear your pyjamas and take the pillows with you.” Funny request for the evening program! But when we arrived in Carnegie hall we understood all. We were going to see a movie. And guess which movie was easy. It was the “Wizard of Oz” day so the movie was… “The Wizard of Oz”!!
The summary (for all the people who fell asleep): The story begins in a farm in Kansas, where everything is grey. The little orphan Dorothy lives here with her uncle, her aunt and a small dog called Toto. But one day a tornado takes away the house when Dorothy and Toto were in. So they arrive in a strange coloured country. Dorothy's house, falling from the sky, kills the Wicked Witch of East. Soon the girl becomes a country heroine, but she gets in trouble with the Wicked Witch of West because Dorothy takes the silver shoes of her sister.
But Dorothy want to return home, so she starts to walk on the Yellow Brick Road to arrive at the Emerald City, where the powerful Wizard of Oz lives. During the walk she finds some friends: the Scarecrow, who wants a brain, the Tin Man, without a heart, and the Cowardly Lion. The little company arrives at the Emerald City and the great Wizard of Oz promises he will do what they ask if they bring to him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of West.
They start their journey, but they are attacked by the flying monkeys that take Dorothy to the witch's castle. Here Dorothy kills the witch with some water. Our heroes return to the Emerald City, and they find out that the great, powerful, fantastic Wizard of Oz is a normal man in disguise! All, except Dorothy, receive the thing they want. The Wizard flies away on a balloon where Dorothy should have been in. At the end Dorothy finds out that the silver shoes can take you where you want. So Dorothy and Toto go back to Kansas.
On Friday when the villagers
got to the dinner a suprise was waiting for them:
They didn`t got any food, but their homey and their nametags were taken away,
instead they got a purple string they had to wear around their neck.
On their tables only the counselors had enough to eat, the villagers had to be
satisfied with dry bread and water.
Soon everybody understood the rules of the game: for this evening the villagers were "purples" - slaves- and some of the counselors were their masters. The challenge was now to escape by the help of going through "safe stations" were none of the masters could catch them.
The ones who were caught had to go into prison meanwhile the others continued their way to the North- the gym.

The 1.August is the official National holiday of Switzerland.
In every part of Switzerland the people are celebrating the
1. August.
In Zurich there is a big firework and some people
go to the “Rütli”. Other make their own
-fireworks
-parties
and other things..
All this people are making this because
at the 1.August 1291 there was an agreement that changed a lot
in Switzerland.
Without this agreement Switzerland wouldn’t be this
Switzerland that it is now.
To get a little bit more into the Swiss culture, we had our own Swiss national day on the first of August.
